Competition Period: 1st October to 30th September annually.
Entry Qualifications: Any rider who rides regularly with a Section of the DA may enter. Indicate your wish to enter by advising your Section or DA Secretary before 31st December following the competition period.
Entries: Entries should be submitted in good time before the judging day which is usually at the end of the first or second week in January.
Competition Categories:
1. Consistent riding with DA Sections:
1.1 The member riding most consistently with his/her nominated Section.
1.2 The member riding most consistently with one or more Sections.
Points will be determined for the individual Section contest. Points will be awarded weekly by the Section Secretaries and totalled for the competition year.
Section Runs:
1 point if you ride to 11's or lunch.
2 points if you ride a full day (maximum, with one or more Sections).
1 point for a Saturday afternoon.
2 points for each full day on which you ride on a Hostel or Holiday tour with the Section, with a maximum of 8 points if this spans two weekends.
2. The highest annual mileage (Jan 1st - Dec 3lst)
2.1. by a male rider.
2.2. by a female rider.
A chart showing mileages reliably recorded by a meter or map measurer on a weekly basis will be required as proof for an award winning entry. Estimates may be given and accepted if it can be shown to the Section or DA
Secretary and the Awards Sub-Committee that the basis for an estimate is reliable.
3. District Association Tourist Competition:
The best DATC achievement by a DA member from the DATC Organiser's listing.
4. The sufferer of the greatest number of punctures.
1 point per puncture suffered on a Section ride or a Section tour.
5. The most interesting or ambitious ride during the year.
To enter, submit a description of your ride, typed if possible.
6. Photographic Competition:
A print or slide showing bicycle or other indication of cycling association.
6.1. Person (male) or people
6.2. Person (female) or people
6.3. Action
6.4. Scenery/landscape
6.5. Building/buildings
6.6. Humorous or funny
The award for a winning photograph will be given to the photographer who took the picture, not to the model.
Prints, in black and white or colour, may he up to 7" x 5" maximum or in any APS format.
The photographer's name, the category, and a short caption should be provided.
Judging: A Sub-Committee of three will be appointed annually from the members of the DA Committee.
For all parts of the Competition the Sub-Committee's decision will be final.
Trophies: Cups or Shields to be held for one year.
Presentations: Awards will be presented at the Social, which is usually held in January or February following the end of the competition year.
Publication: The results and entries may be published in the Sou'Wester or elsewhere unless this is specifically refused by the Award winner.
